Wood County Hospital opened in 1951 thanks to a major contribution from Fred Uhlman, Sr. and others in the community who saw the need for local, quality medical care.
Wood County Hospital Foundation was established in 1987 to help ensure a legacy of medical excellence. Starting with a generous gift from Ruth and Rhea Keil, the Foundation strives to keep pace with ever-changing technologies and innovations that enhance patient care. All Foundation efforts reflect our core values of accountability, stewardship, integrity, excellence, commitment and respect.
Because of individuals like you and the consistent financial support we receive, we can be here for our community. Each contribution allows us the opportunity to offer advanced treatment and necessary care. Your generosity symbolizes the strength of philanthropy and community, bringing hope and healing to the lives of those we care about—our loved ones, neighbors, and friends.
Your trust, partnership and ongoing involvement are deeply valued. Our hospital was founded on community donations, and with your support, we will continue to grow. Every gift is precious, and every dollar makes a difference.
The WCH Foundation is a separate 501(c)3 led by a community Board of Trustees. The board has approved funds over the last several years to support strategic initiatives and priority needs of WCH. Some of the distributions include new robotic equipment for surgery, building improvements to expand our Ready Program for children with autism, building expansion and new equipment for the Pulmonary Rehabilitation program, a Radiotherapy Patient System for advanced and more precise cancer treatment during radiation and scholarships to support nursing students in our community. All to benefit our patients.

The Foundation is a separate 501(c)3 that raises philanthropic funds to support major construction projects, equipment purchases and facility renovations. Our purpose is to obtain charitable contributions, manage those gifts and disburse them under the direction of a volunteer board of directors from the community, who set policy and direct our activities.
All gifts donated to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
