Your Health Information is Just a Click Away
Individuals who receive services at Wood County Hospital will now be able to obtain their most up-to-date health information through a secure, online patient portal called MyHealthRecord. It provides 24/7 access to the electronic medical record WCH clinicians use to manage and document a patient’s healthcare.
MyHealthRecord users will now be able to:
- View upcoming hospital appointments,
- Check lab results within 36 hours after the test is completed
- View clinical records for allergies, medications, and immunization, as well as discharge summaries of any procedure or hospital visit they have had at Wood County Hospital since December 5, 2011.
MyHealthRecord is a password protected secure website. It is managed by Cerner Health as part of the Electronic Medical Record.
“MyHealthRecord will enhance our patients’ healthcare experience by giving them immediate access to their health information when and where they want it,” said Joanne White, WCH Chief Information Officer.
Patient portals, such as MyHealthRecord are being created by healthcare organizations throughout the United States as part of the Meaningful Use incentive program of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITEC) Act of 2009. Achieving meaningful use helps determine whether an organization will receive incentive payments from the federal government.
How to Get Started
To get started in MyHealthRecord, new users are invited to enroll when they come to WCH for any service or patient visit. A WCH Registration Representative will ask the individual for an e-mail address, as well as a security question and the answer to the question. Within minutes an e-mail invitation will be sent to the user to create a personal MyHealthRecord account. To assure optimum security, registration requires an in-person visit to a WCH location. A photo ID is necessary to complete the process. At this time only individuals 18 years and older are eligible to become MyHealthRecord users. Stop by any WCH Registration desk to enroll.
