Wow Award Year-End Winner
Since October 2018, a total of 94 team members were nominated for engaging with patients, visitors and employees in exceptional ways, providing a superior level of commitment and reflecting the values of Wood County Hospital (WCH). Of these individuals, 12 recipients were selected as WOW award winners and each received a gift card.
The year-end WOW award winner was announced at the October Leadership Forum. Jon Burt was selected as the year-end winner and will receive a cash bonus. Leading up to the award, Jon was nominated four times throughout the year and each of his nominations mentioned his dedication to patient care, patient satisfaction and his commitment as a nurse with the New Vision program.
Jon shared how thankful he was to be a part of the nursing team at Wood County Hospital that rise up to the occasion each day to do great things together. He shared, “I am very proud to be a nurse at WCH, it is now part of who I am. I started my career here and feel so blessed to be surrounded by the strong nurses that have raised me into the nurse I am today. I feel so humbled to be recognized but also feel there are staff from all departments that deserve just as much recognition. “It takes a village” to give excellent patient care, and that is exactly what we are doing here. To be the nurse I am, I stand on such a strong foundation created by all departments. I am probably known for my favorite phrase, “thanks for all you do, I appreciate you” and I mean that sincerely to every staff member that helps care for our patients. We are doing great things here at WCH and there is no other team I would rather be playing for. This hospital staff, my tight-knit nursing staff, and our patients have impacted my life for the better, and this profession allows me the opportunity to give so much back to my community.”
Our WOW Patient Experience Initiative was first launched in October 2018. It focuses on developing a staff-led environment that fosters patient-centered care that rewards employees for exceeding patient and family expectations. Employees are nominated who exemplify the values of Wood County Hospital in ways that provided a “WOW” experience to our patients, family and visitors. The values we embrace (Respect, Compassion, Competence, Courtesy, Dedication, Responsiveness, Efficiency, Effectiveness and Integrity) help guide the quality of our service.
