Wood County Hospital Recognized at American Cancer Society’s “An Evening of Gratitude”
On December 10, Wood County Hospital was presented the Award of Excellence at the American Cancer Society’s “An Evening of Gratitude.” The event was held by the American Cancer Society (ACS) to recognize those that help in the mission to save lives, celebrate life and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
“Over the past ten years, Wood County Hospital has given over $150,000 in support of the American Cancer Society. The impact of the hospital’s philanthropic support of relays in Wood County and BGSU has been significant for our community members. We’re so thankful for the hospital’s leadership support and dedication to cancer patients in our community,” stated Brian Gibson, ACS community development manager.
Brian thanked Dr. Mersiha Hadziahmetovic, radiation oncologist at the Maurer Family Cancer Care Center and Cristy Walton, vice president of development, for accepting the award on behalf of Wood County Hospital. Dr. Hadziahmetovic thanked the other volunteers who were recognized at the event and had a role in assisting patients by providing rides and participating in so many other events throughout NW Ohio to raise awareness and money for cancer patients.
