WCH to present women's health program on cancer
On Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., Wood County Hospital will persent the program ‘Beauty and the Beast: Taming the Threat of Cancer,’ as part of its Positively Pink Women’s Health program series. The free program will take place in the hospital meeting rooms.
One of every three women will get cancer in their lifetimes. But survival rates are improving for many types of cancer, particularly in beast and cervical cancer, thanks to improvements in cancer screening and prevention.
Coral Matus M.D., hospitalist, will discuss who is at risk and what you can do to prevent yourself from becoming a statistic. Helen Mabry, M.D., breast surgical oncologist will reveal five ways to prevent breast cancer and explain what to do, what not to do, and what to watch for. The evening will also include free samples, health information, relaxation demonstrations, free health screenings, refreshments, door prizes and special vendors.
