October WOW Award Winner – Chelsey Woodruff
The WOW Patient Experience Initiative recognizes team members who engage with patients/families, visitors and employees in exceptional ways, providing a superior level of commitment and reflecting the values of Wood County Hospital. Chelsey Woodruff, physical therapist assistant, was selected as the October WOW award winner for going above and beyond the call of duty.
When services were resumed in late spring, and Rehab Services staff began seeing patients again, the front desk was short-staffed. Having previously worked as a medical office receptionist at Falcon Health Center before graduating with her PTA degree, Chelsey stepped right in. Chelsey was willing to learn all of the processes necessary at the front desk, including registering patients, checking them in, answering the phone and scheduling. Not only did Chelsey help the Rehab Services Department get through this difficult time, but she also did so with a positive attitude.
When an aide position was needed, Chelsey was willing to fill in for that too. She greeted patients in the lobby, brought them back to the therapists, stocked supplies and cleaned everything and anything in the department.
Chelsey has worked as a PT Assistant for a year now and has helped with inpatients and outpatients as needed during this time. The Rehab Team teases Chelsey for being a “Jack-of-all-rehab-trades” because she has worked four different positions in the past two months! During any shift, Chelsey can be an aide, receptionist or a PTA.
Chelsey has a passion for helping others and shared, “It is rewarding to be able to help patients improve their quality of life after injuries or procedures, as well as be able to work as a team with all the other therapists.” Thank you, Chelsey, for stepping up to support your co-workers and show what it means to be an exceptional team player.
