Nicholas G. Espinoza, DO Named New Falcon Health Center Medical Director

Nicholas G. Espinoza, D.O. has been named the new Medical Director of Falcon Health Center (FHC), the new $5 million student health center on the campus of Bowling Green State University (BGSU). The FHC will be operated by Wood County Hospital and replace the present Student Health Services building on campus and will open in August 2013. Espinoza was selected, effective June 1, following a national search.

In his capacity as Medical Director, Dr. Espinoza will provide medical administrative oversight for the clinical operations of the Falcon Health Center. In addition, he will serve as a liaison between FHC and constituencies within BGSU with respect to Patient Satisfaction, Quality Assurance, Accreditation and Long Range Planning. He will also provide clinical services to patients.

In addition to his active adult family medicine practice, Dr. Espinoza has held faculty and administrative roles for more than 20 years in academic healthcare organizations in Ohio, including Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Mercy Family Medicine Residency Program in Toledo. He has also provided medical services at a variety of urgent care and occupational health settings.

Board certified by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, Espinoza obtained his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. He completed an internship in family medicine at Parkview Osteopathic Hospital in Toledo.

Dr. Espinoza has won many awards for his work as an academic clinician including the American Osteopathic Association Mentor of the Year; Toledo CORE Outstanding Clinic Instructor in Family Medicine from Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine; and Outstanding Clinical Preceptor by Mercy Family Medicine. His community service activities include participation in the Shriners Hospital for Children, Zenobia Shrine in Toledo; Adelante, Inc. and as physician to the Texas Migrant Counsel’s Headstart program in Millbury, Ohio.
