Lisa Barndt, RN Awarded 2013 Nurse Excellence Award
Lisa Barndt, RN in the Obstetrics Department received the 2013 Wood County Hospital Nurse Excellence Award on Friday, May 10.
Lisa, a certified obstetrics nurse has worked at Wood County Hospital in the Obstetrics Department since 1996. She obtained her bachelor of science in nursing degree this year from Spring Arbor University.
“It is a pleasure to work alongside Lisa,” said Lynn Williams, RN, Obstetrics Department Supervisor. “She regularly takes on additional tasks throughout her working day to ensure our unit runs as smooth as possible. In addition to her regular nursing responsibilities, Lisa recently has become a clinical instructor for OB nursing students along with working full time, having a family, and completing her BSN.“
The Nurse Excellence Award, now in its third year, is given annually during National Nurses Week to a nurse who is nominated by her peers, manager, or a physician. The committee that evaluates the nominees bases the evaluations upon nine categories that include customer service, mentoring, patient advocacy, clinical care, education (patient and family), going above and beyond the call of duty and Human Resources issues.
Lisa’s name will be placed on the Nurse Excellence plaque along with the previous winners, Barb Christy, LPN and Amanda Sattler, RN. The plaque is located in the seating area across from the Gift Shop. She will also be given a choice between a Littman stethoscope or WCH logo wear.
