Karen B. Selected as 2024 Year End WOW Award Winner

Karen Britt, dietary aide, was voted the 2024 Year-end WOW Patient Experience Award winner by her fellow employees who submitted votes for their choice of the honoree. 

While working in the cafeteria, Karen noticed a young mother and toddler in need. They didn’t have money for food and could have gone without while waiting at the hospital. Seeing this, Karen stepped in and graciously paid for whatever they needed. Her kindness stood out as an example of what makes Wood County Hospital special. She didn’t just provide food—she offered comfort and support during a difficult time. This selfless act earned her the year-end WOW Award, and she continues to be a friendly face on the dietary team, bringing warmth and positivity to those she serves.

The person who nominated Karen said witnessing her kindness was heartwarming and a reminder of how small gestures make a significant impact. Karen’s actions reflect the values WCH strives to uphold daily: compassion, respect and a genuine desire to help others.
