July WOW Award Winner – ICU Nurse, Chelsea
The WOW Patient Experience Initiative recognizes team members who engage with patients/families, visitors and employees in exceptional ways, providing a superior level of commitment and reflecting the values of Wood County Hospital. Chelsea, RN, ICU, was selected as the July WOW award winner for going above and beyond.
Chelsea is a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. She has been at WCH for a little over a year and a half and has been a nurse for almost four years.
For several days, Chelsea cared for a patient with developmental disabilities in the ICU. While caring for this patient, he mentioned several times that he wanted a pizza party. Intent on surprising him, Chelsea ordered pizza for the patient and the entire ICU staff, making the patient’s day with her act of kindness.
“Chelsea went above and beyond by bringing a simple joy to her patient in a challenging environment that doesn’t always seem joyful. We are lucky to have Chelsea on our team in the ICU and at WCH!” shared her supervisor.
Chelsea grew up in Northwood and got her associate degree in nursing at Owens Community College. She then graduated from the University of Toledo with her BSN in December 2022.
While attending Owens, Chelsea did a clinical rotation at Wood County, where she “fell in love with the small-town feel and how happy everyone seemed just walking through the hallways.”
On days off, Chelsea loves to spend time with her husband and one-year-old daughter. She’s also expecting her second child with her husband in February 2024.
Thank you, Chelsea, for going the extra mile to make a patient’s day during their care with us.
