January WOW Award Winner – Cathy Horger
The WOW Patient Experience Initiative recognizes team members who engage with patients/families, visitors and employees in exceptional ways, providing a superior level of commitment and reflecting the values of Wood County Hospital. Cathy Horger, Welcome Center Representative, was selected as the January WOW award winner for going above and beyond in her role and exemplifying the values of Wood County Hospital.
Cathy has worked at the Welcome Center for ten years, working with volunteers to provide the best customer service to everyone coming through the front doors. Additionally, Cathy works on special projects for her boss, Laurie Newlove, in conjunction with Lifeline, The Red Cross and Hospital Guild.
Working for the Red Cross coordinating the drives has especially been rewarding for Cathy. She has developed a relationship with the givers, sending them reminder messages and provides excellent follow through. Cathy works with the dietary staff, coordinating special treats for the donors and even pays for some treats herself to fit her theme! She covers each detail and continues to think and research ways to keep the drive fresh and viable. Cathy has seen an increase in the volume of blood collected at Red Cross blood drives at Wood County Hospital and has built a loyal following along the way. Thank you, Cathy, for being an exceptional team player and supporting the Wood County community.
