Dr. Robert Lavey Appointed to American Cancer Society East Central Divison Board of Directors

The American Cancer Society announced the appointment of Robert S. Lavey, M.D., M.P.H of Perrysburg, OH to the 2016 East Central Division of American Cancer Society Board of Directors. The American Cancer Society Board of Directors consists of up to 24-members, which includes four officers. The Division board is the primary volunteer leadership structure in the Division. Its mission is to strategically advise and support the Division executive in achieving high impact results in order to make East Central a top performing Division in the American Cancer Society.

“We are honored to welcome Dr. Lavey to the East Central Board of Directors,” said Mike Neal, Executive Vice President of the American Cancer Society. “The Board of Directors is comprised of talent, strength and the commitment to continue to provide strong leadership to help impact of our collective efforts to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.”

Robert S. Lavey, M.D., M.P.H is a board-certified radiation oncologist and is the Medical Director of the Maurer Family Cancer Care Center at Wood County Hospital. A graduate from Harvard and Stanford Universities, Dr. Lavey has held both academic and clinical positions in radiation oncology at leading medical centers throughout the country. Dr. Lavey has been the Principal Investigator or Radiation Oncology Coordinator of 12 internationally conducted clinical trials sponsored by the U.S. National Cancer Institute. He has written over 40 scientific articles in medical journals and over 20 chapters in oncology textbooks. Dr. Lavey has volunteered for the American Cancer Society for eight years, lending his expertise to support the Society’s prevention, early detection and patient programs in the community.
