Dr. Joy Barnes joins Bowling Green Family Physicians
Joy Barnes, M.D., board-certified family medicine physician, has recently joined Bowling Green Family Physicians and will begin seeing patients on January 9. For over three years, Dr. Barnes provided care at Falcon Health Center and shared, “I loved my time at Falcon Health Center (FHC), one of my favorite parts was getting to know the community patients and students at BGSU alike. I decided to go back to private practice because I would like to keep up the skill set I trained for in residency. I am appreciative of the time I spent at FHC, and I enjoyed the patients there.”
Dr. Barnes attended medical school at Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio and completed residency training at the Toledo Hospital. Dr. Barnes sees patients of all ages and has many clinical interests including preventive care and disease management of common conditions. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) as well as the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP). In providing primary care, Dr. Barnes enjoys “getting to know my patients because in knowing them, I can provide personalized and comprehensive care.” Family is very important to Dr. Barnes, she and her husband, Dr. David Barnes, enjoy spending time with their four sons and other family members. In her spare time, she also enjoys being involved in a variety of sports.
