August WOW Award Winner – Doug Miesle
The WOW Patient Experience Initiative recognizes team members who engage with patients/families, visitors and employees in exceptional ways, providing a superior level of commitment and reflecting the values of Wood County Hospital. Doug Miesle, Systems Administrator, was selected as the August WOW award winner for going above and beyond. Doug was nominated by multiple co-works for starting a “pay it forward” initiative for birthdays. The process begins with an employee who receives a birthday gift bag from a random coworker. That employee then signs the back of the bag and finds a random coworker to pay it forward to, getting them a small gift and taking it to them on their birthday. This is a nice gesture to show a fellow coworker someone is thinking of them on their day.
Doug has been a part of Wood County Hospital’s Information Services team since 2011. In his role, Doug provides courteous first-level contact and problem resolution for all users with hardware, software and applications problems, in addition to managing projects regarding software installations, upgrades and patches and more. He shared that the variety of work is one aspect of his job that he enjoys most, “Every day is different. I never know who is going to call with a problem or what the problem is going to be. I just know that there will be phone calls from people needing help and that most of the time, I can provide that help.”
Thank you, Doug, for being an exceptional member of the WCH team and finding a creative way to brighten a coworker’s day and build camaraderie within the hospital.
