Diabetes Education Program
Wood County Hospital offers comprehensive programs for the management of diabetes provided by registered nurses and specially trained registered dietitians. The Diabetes Education Program assists patients in diabetes self-management and continuing education for the diabetic population of the surrounding area.

The Diabetes Education program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org)  (Medicare Certified).  Patients are instructed on modified diets, blood glucose monitoring, management tools, nutrition and meal planning, physical activity planning, medications, self-care do’s and don'ts, stress management, and mental wellness. Education is also available for pregnant women with gestational diabetes.

The health care team includes a physician, nurse educator and dietitian.  The keys to good diabetes management are enlisting the help of your team and working together to reach your goals. For more information, call (419) 354-8863.
