WCH Welcomes New Hospitalist, Douglas Cifuentes, D.O

Douglas Cifuentes, D.O., new hospitalist physician, comes from Promedica Health System and Mercy Health System where he provided skilled and compassionate care to admitted patients. A Chicago native, Dr. Cifuentes attended the Loyola University of Chicago where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed residency training at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

From 1999-2014, Dr. Cifuentes provided internal medicine care in both an inpatient and outpatient setting to the Toledo community. He has also been involved with residency training as an instructor and program director. “Being able to foster and promote a culture of patient focused care at the bedside is a very rewarding experience.” Dr. Cifuentes is a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and has been the physician speaker for a number of medical lectures and conferences.

In his new role, Dr. Cifuentes looks forward to being part of a dynamic, growing team within the hospital, promoting quality of care to WCH patients. In his spare time, Dr. Cifuentes enjoys visiting local wineries with his wife, vegetable gardening and zen meditation. He follows University of Notre Dame sports teams and enjoys going to sporting venues.
